Mathematics and Computer Science

The St. Joseph’s College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science values the personal touch. Small class sizes permit stimulating and probing classroom dialogues and individualized instruction outside the classroom.

A mathematics laboratory, peer tutoring and advisement of graduate grants and fellowships are an integral part of the support services. Other activities available to students within the department include a student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery, a Mathematical Association of America student chapter, a mathematics club, a computer science club, a chapter of the Kappa Mu Epsilon national mathematics honor society, a chapter of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon national computer science honor society and opportunities to tutor high school students in mathematics. In addition, part-time employment opportunities are available as laboratory assistants.

Many of our graduates have become teachers. St. Joseph’s College’s renowned teacher education component prepares qualified teachers that are sought after by school administrators. As undergraduates progress through our program, they are introduced to the classroom environment, working with students and teachers in a variety of school situations and roles of increasing responsibility. Our alumni teach in classrooms across the tri-state area and beyond in high schools, colleges and universities.

Teaching is not the only career option for math and computer science majors. CHECK THIS PAGE TO SEE WHAT OTHER CAREER OPTIONS ARE OUT THERE.
