Fraternity and Sorority Life

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Fraternity and Sorority Life offers students additional opportunities to bond with others who share a common goal. Brothers or sisters within individual Greek organizations focus on the mission and goals of the sorority/fraternity for improving the campus and neighboring community, while forming life-long bonds through team building events and activities.

Currently, SJNY is actively represented by six national organizations:

Alpha Gamma Delta Women's Fraternity

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women's fraternity that promotes academic excellence, philanthropic giving, ongoing leadership and personal development, and above all, a spirit of loving sisterhood. Guided by our purpose, Alpha Gamma Deltas strive to attain a higher standard, thereby improving their lives, the lives of those around them and the communities in which they live. Together, we continually work to inspire the women and impact the world.

The Lambda Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta was installed on May 5, 2012. The Lambda Alpha Chapter was the 187th installed chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta.

Alpha Phi Delta National Fraternity

Founded in 1996 as Delta Psi Omega by four friends at St. Joseph's University, the brothers of Delta Psi Omega championed Greek life at St. Joseph's University until 2011, when the organization applied for membership in the national fraternity Alpha Phi Delta.

Mission

To promote a lifelong brotherhood based around the values of loyalty, perseverance and fraternity.

The colony currently has 84 brothers (17 undergraduate brothers and 67 alumni) and is one of the premier undergraduate entities of Alpha Phi Delta. The powerful, active and dedicated alumni support continues to promote brotherhood long after your undergraduate days.

The St. Joseph's colony has also dedicated itself to the memory of our brother Dion Arroyo who tragically passed away. The Dion Arroyo Scholarship is the only student-run scholarship at the University and is the primary focus of Alpha Phi Delta's charity work.

Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority

The Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon was chartered on November 23, 2014.
