BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – September 5, 2017 –St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is ranked 9th by Washington Monthly in this year’s list of 385 “Best Bang for the Buck” colleges in the Northeast. The ranking marks the third consecutive year that SJC has placed in the top 10. In addition, the College was ranked 77 of 632 in the nation for master’s programs.

“This ranking is a validation of what all of us at St. Joseph’s College already know—that St. Joseph’s is a top choice for students seeking a superior return on their investment,” said SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. “Furthermore, it’s a tribute to the efforts of our outstanding faculty and staff and the success of our graduates.”

Known for its small classes, close relationships with professors and affordable tuition, SJC prepares graduates for gainful employment in the career of their choice.

Washington Monthly, a 48-year-old magazine located in Washington D.C., has been ranking colleges in a variety of subjects since 2005, but it created the “Best Bang for the Buck” list five years ago to show which colleges and universities do the best job at offering low- to moderate-income students a marketable education at an affordable price. Of the 1,860 colleges and universities surveyed in the publication’s broad ranking, 385 made the official Northeast list.

To qualify for the list, colleges and universities were evaluated based on student social mobility, community service and academic research to tabulate an overall score.
